Renee was already gone, but there was a note left for him on the fridge telling him breakfast was in the microwave, and that she'd be back around noon. "I wonder if I can trust you Renee" Wildwing sighed as he heated up the food. He had a lot of things to think about. ~what was Dragaunus's plan when he sent me here? and why didn't he just kill me?~ he thought, clearing away the dishes for Renee. ~well it's obvious he knew he couldn't kill me with my team and all. And by sending me to Carnival Knight's? what was the point of that?~ there was a knock on the door. He opened it and found 3 boys standing there with mean looking metal hockey sticks in their hands. ~uh-oh, street goons~ he thought instantly. "where's Renee?" the leader of the three demanded to know. He was a little shorter than Wildwing, but not enough to make a difference. He had short matted black hair and looked like he belonged to a street gang. "at work" Wildwing replied, standing his ground in front of the door. His arms crossed. "mind if we hang around for her to come home my good drake?" the 2nd of them asked. He was as tall as Nosedive, and so was the other thug. But they both had short dirty blond hair, dressed in the same color's as their leader. "actually I do" Wildwing stood in the doorway. Intented on not letting them in. "oh did you hear that boss? he won't let us in" the 3rd thug mocked Wildwing. "not unless you have Renee's written permisson. Which I know she didn't give you because she wouldn't have the time because she works with the courier service" "the courier service? there is no courier service on Carnival Knight's" the 2nd thug said, confused. The leader elbowed him in the stomach. "Renee doesn't even work my good man. Red takes care of her, and we work for Red. Is she said she's out working at a courier service that doesn't exist, she's doing something for you" the leader told Wildwing. Turned his thug's around and left through the elevator. Wildwing waited until the elevator lights hit the ground floor before going back into the loft. ~doing something for me? what could he mean by that? were they friends with Renee?~ Wildwing thought. He shook it out of his head a second latter ~no. I have to worry about how I get back to Earth and save my brother....when Dragaunus sent me here, he must of hoped Id be so happy here that I wouldn't even try to go back to Earth......but he sent me here by use of the gateway device.....and in order to do that on Carnival Knights, according to legend, there has to be a receiving gateway device some where on the island~ he wrote it down on a notepad he found, connecting the links ~and all I have to do is find out where that receiving device is, and us it to get back to the Pond!~ just as he was finished folding up the paper and putting it in his pocket. Renee climbed in through the fire-escape balcony window. "I have good news, and I have bad news" she told him quietly with a warm smile. "where were you? Three thugs showed up and demanded to know where you were. When I told them you were out working, their leader said there was no courier service on the Island" Wildwing told her. Approaching her, she backed away fearfully, her hands up in defense. "I...I...call my friends the courier service.... we convey messages and information quickly across the island to the rest of our friends. I...I...went to ask them if they knew about any traitors that were on the Island....so you wouldn't have to....the Island's dangerous if you don't know your way around....even for some one as big as you..." she whimpered, backing up into the wall "please don't hurt me" she cried. Wildwing's face went from anger to surprise. "what are you talking about? Id never hurt you unless you tried to hurt me. I thought you were lying to me" she tripped on a chair at that moment and was about to fall backwards down a small flight of stairs, he lashed out and caught her "hey, be careful, you'll hurt yourself" "the good news is that there are traitors here on the Island, a lot of them. The bad news is that they're all gathered in one place. In an abandoned subway station that was closed down half a centuary ago. The mole-duck's say that they've got some sort of big computer attached to a funny looking machine down there" she told him, her fear instantly left her. "now could you let go of my wrist?....your holding me to tight" she looked at it. "oops, sorry" Wildwing let go of her "do you know where I can find this station?...it's important that I do find it. It might be the only way I can get back to my team" "your team?...oh yes...there's other new's that your one of the 7 who chased Dragaunus away. & I know it's true, I've seen the satalite photo's that caught you in the wind-shield of the Aero-Wing that did it" she poked him in the chest "tell me....what's Earth like?" Wildwing was a little surprised "yeesh....you got friends in high places" he rubbed the back of his neck ackwardly. She smiled sweetly, and sat down while he told her about Earth. It was mid-afternoon when he finished. "If I help you...will you bring me with you? please?....even though this place seems like paradise, the drive-by death numbers are rising everyday....goons are becoming more of a threat then ever.....Earth seems like heaven" Renee pointed out to him. "alright. Show me where to go, but im not making any promises that you end up coming to Earth with me" Wildwing agreed. He knew it was wrong, but he planned to dump her outside the station. "thank you Wildwing" she said, standing on her tip-toes and kissed his cheeks "your an angel" He followed her into a run down part of Carnival Knight's. She lead him down the stairs of an old & practically unused subway stair case. She had a small magna-lite sized flashlight that seemed to be made just for her hands. "kill the light Renee. The traitors 'll see us" Wildwing whispered to her. She did so upon request. "they won't see us, not now at least" she whispered back in a quieter tone than she used when she talked. "and why's that?" Wildwing whispered back. "we've got 2 mile's of walking to do before we get there" she whispered back. "oh" Wildwing nodded, he put on the Mask. "give me your hand. We can't risk being seen by security camera's, I can see better than you can down here. I wouldn't want you to trip now would I?" he felt her slid her small hand into his and he lead the way. It was awhile before they encountered any trouble. 3 ducks were walking towards them with a flash light each. Wildwing hid behind an overturned box car, but he had to let go of Renee. She wasn't there with me, he knew that much. And he scanned the tunnel for her. He found her, standing off to the side right out in the open. The talkative ducks flashed their flash lights in front of her a few times, but they never discovered her and they were gone now. She found her way over to Wildwing as soon as they were gone, and gave him her hand again. He asked no questions about it. "we're here" she whispered to him, pointing around the bend where some light was coming from. "you'll need these" she handed him some puck bombs "they've probably placed sheeted metal across the enterence" "you take it Renee, I've got explosive puck's" Wildwing whispered back. Quick changing into his battle armour. She stared at him, a little surprised through the green light that glowed around him for a brief moment when the armor covered him. She took the bombs and placed them in her sac that he didn't see that she was carrying. "do you want me to distract the guards attention Wildwing?" she asked him, they looked around the bend to see only one guard, a duck with a laser, and no cameras. "do what you can to get him here for me to take down" Wildwing whispered to her. The guard turned around to take a bite out of the sandwhich that was set down on the ledge next to a key-card. She walked up behind him during this time. The guard turned around, he was startled at first to see her there, but then smiled at how innocent Renee was looking. Renee backed up slowly, motioning for him to follow. He did eagerly, as soon as she got around the corner Wildwing leapt out and knocked the guy out. Renee ran and got the key-card while he searched the guy. "Wildwing" she called to him in her quiet tone. He ran up to her "this is the key. According to my sources, these guys are nothing but whimpy scientists that the traitors force to work for them" she ran the card through the computerized lock. The door opened and they entered. Inside was a bunch of scientists walking around, monitoring computer equipment.
